Dis Ole House A Hidden Gem in St. Philip

Having a photographer partner means life comes with unexpected road trips and on this particular day, it was a spontaneous drive up to St. Philip in search of the Beach of Forgotten Tears. Somewhere between the winding roads and good vibes, my spontaneous spirit kicked in, and I decided we should try a recommend food spot Dis Ole House, and let me tell you they did not disappoint.

From the moment we stepped inside Dis Ole House , we were greeted warmly by Didi Winston, an exceptional host who truly set the tone for the experience. Her smile was genuine, her energy welcoming, and she made sure we were comfortable from start to finish. It didn’t matter that we were casually dressed most patrons were toowhich added to the relaxed, come-as-you-are charm of the place.

When we asked what she’d recommend, Didi didn’t hesitate.

For my boyfriend, she suggested Sunday Food, and that plate came correct. Traditional rice and peas (with or without gravy), classic macaroni pie, and some finger-licking BBQ chicken. Comfort food done right.

As a pescatarian, I went with the fettuccine alfredo with fish and seasonal vegetables, and let me tell you the portion size alone deserves applause. Creamy, flavourful, and filling. I left stuffed and happy.

To wash it all down, I had a mango frizz refreshing, tropical, and just sweet enough. Because I’m naturally a bit ‘licorish’, so I also sampled my boyfriend’s watermelon frizz, beautifully garnished with fresh watermelon. Absolutely delightful.

The ambience? Chef’s kiss.

There was live entertainment, and at one point I even found myself up dancing with some beautiful ladies one of whom was celebrating her 80th birthday. If nobody told you, you’d never know. That alone speaks volumes about the energy in the space: joyful, timeless, and full of life.

All in all, Dis Ole House is a solid recommendation from The Bajan Bite. Whether you’re planning a Sunday lunch, a casual outing, or a spontaneous adventure up St. Philip this spot delivers.
